Family abroad

Globalisation is also taking place in marriage – mixed-national marriages with partners from different countries or with different nationalities, but also stays abroad, are on the increase. This leads to a multitude of questions about legal relationships in marriage – matrimonial property regimes, relationships with children, their nationality, rules for divorce, divorce proceedings and the consequences of divorce. In the case of inheritance, the question arises as to whether domestic or foreign inheritance law applies. To a certain extent, however, spouses can determine these questions themselves.
