Execution of wills

When the testator determines how his or her assets are to be distributed, he or she wants to ensure that his or her provisions are complied with and implemented. He should therefore appoint an executor to administer the estate and hand over the assets to the designated heirs and legatees. He can also supervise conditions and obligations or fulfil conditions: for example, the provision of the widowed spouse. If minors are eligible as heirs, the executor should administer the estate until they are of legal age or have reached business maturity after training and entering the profession.
